Today we packed the coach up nice and early after grabbing a packed lunch from a local sandwich shop and headed to the WWI Canadian memorial site: Vimy Ridge. There wasn't a cloud in the sky as we approached the brilliant monument. The students were very reflective and many took some time to sit and take the monument in from the lawn below.
After visiting the monument we split into two groups and head into the trenches and tunnels. The guides were informative and the kids challenged them with some really great questions. Then we enjoyed lunch outside in 30+ degrees before getting on the bus and heading towards the coast.
After a long trip that included watching 2 movies and making a pit stop that turned into a candy stop, we quickly loaded our belongings into the Churchill Hotel and made our way to a dinner the proved to be worth the drive. A tour of Bayeux wrapped up the day.
We are now settled in and eagerly awaiting tomorrow: DDay 71 at the Juno Beach Centre.
